In commemoration of the 2026 Armed Forces Remembrance Day, the Delta State Council of the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN) has issued a stirring tribute to the nation’s fallen heroes, characterizing their sacrifices as the bedrock of Nigeria’s unity and peace.
In a goodwill message released by the State Chairman, Comr. Sagboje, Odiri Milton, CLN, the council emphasized that the day transcends mere ceremony. Sagboje described it as a moment of profound reflection on the patriotism of those who paid the supreme price to defend the nation.
“Our fallen heroes stood firm in the face of danger, choosing duty over life itself,” Sagboje stated. He further extended gratitude to serving and retired personnel for their unwavering commitment to national security under challenging conditions.
Strategic Support for Youth in Service The Chairman also used the occasion to commend the Executive Governor of Delta State, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, for his active role in encouraging young Deltans to pursue military careers. Sagboje hailed the Governor’s recruitment drive as a “strategic investment in youth empowerment,” noting that it fosters discipline and a sense of purpose within the state’s youth population.
The NYCN concluded its message by calling on Nigerian youths to reject social vices and instead embrace the values of discipline and national service exemplified by the armed forces.
